Jon Summers is The Motoring Historian. He was a company car thrashing, technology sales rep that turned into a fairly inept sports bike rider. Hailing from California, he collects cars and bikes built with plenty of cheap and fast, and not much reliable. On his show, he gets together with various co-hosts to talk about new and old cars, driving, motorbikes, motor racing, and motoring travel.

Freeman highlights three drivers - Earl Cooper, Harry Hartz, and Lou Moore - whose contributions to American racing were significant despite never securing a victory at Indy. Earl Cooper was a three-time national champion known for his versatility and mechanical knowledge. Harry Hartz, a national champion in 1926, finished second at Indy three times and later became a successful car entrant. Lou Moore, also an entrant, found success with innovative car designs post-WWII. Freeman's lecture is based on his book, 'Second to One,' which aims to honor these drivers and their impact on motorsports history.
